Level 5: No plans for Professor Layton Wii
The developer is focusing on the second trilogy of the DS series, with the first entry coming out later this year in Japan.

After the great success of the Professor Layton games on the Nintendo DS, there were always going to be questions about a home console release. The Wii, with its pointer and motion controls, would allow for fairly accurate conversion, but an interview with Level 5 has revealed that the company isn’t planning to make a Wii version, at least not at the moment.

"This trilogy comes to a conclusion with Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel," said Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino, "but we will be releasing the first title of the new trilogy, Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny in Japan. The new trilogy will also be based around solving puzzles, but will also include greatly improved bonus modes so I think that players will be able to enjoy the games for even longer. We currently have no plans for a Wii release."

We only just had Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box, the second game in the series, arrive here last month, with nothing currently known about when we might expect a Western release of the Last Time Travel, so if there ever is a Wii release then we’d probably have to wait a long while to get it.
