Joining countless others in the twittering phenomenon, Professor Layton has been giving out official ‘tweets’, and the latest declaration regarding his appointment at a ‘Grand Smash Tournament’ has the Professor making us scratch our heads yet again.

Retraction: The following article was written under the understanding that the website cited was the official twitter account used by Level 5 games/Nintendo to promote Professor Layton games. We have since learned that the site was an elaborate fake. We apologise for any misunderstanding this erroneous statement might have caused –JM.

In a tweet posted yesterday, the Professor states he is “... on my way to the ’Grand Smash Tournament’ now! Wish me luck! Though, I am not exactly sure what I am going to be doing...”

This was followed up by the bizarre statement “This is nothing like what I expected! I was told to FIGHT a blue robot boy, a possessed doll, and a tiny boxer! I’m leaving at once!”, posted a few hours later.

For those who have played the first Layton game, such puzzling remarks may be familiar fare to hear coming from the Professor’s mouth, but if they are in regards to any upcoming game or event is anyone’s guess. The inclusion of the term ‘Smash Tournament’ has left people some guessing about a possible connection to the Smash Bros. fighting games. Has the Professor given up brains for brawn? Only time will tell.
