Localised Muramasa to retain Japanese-only voice work
English subtitles will be the only translation provided with the western version of Vanillaware’s action RPG ’Muramasa- The Demon Blade’ in order to maintain the Japanese feel of the setting..

Shane Bettenhausen of Ignition entertainment has stated that “For Muramasa we decided to stick with the original Japanese voices and only localize the text. We felt the game was deeply steeped in Japanese tradition, mythology, and culture that trying to dub it, trying to make something more Western is really not a service to the product.”

Ignition entertainment will be publishing the game in North America, with Rising Sun games taking on publishing duties in PAL territories. It is likely that Rising Sun will use the same version as Ignition for the game’s release here in Australia.

Gamers will therefore uncover the adventure through a pairing of Japanese voice work and English subtitles. The setting of the game is heavily steeped in Japanese culture, drawing on key historic events and mythologies in creating a uniquely-styled 2D sidescrolling RPG action adventure game.
