Nintendo and Online have a sordid past, and with the Wii and now the Nintendo DSi Nintendo has made great efforts into bringing digital distribution and online gameplay to owners. However it’s a sad fact that lots of people don’t even know that the Wii is online enabled, let alone does it have a complete digital distribution system with WiiWare and Virtual Console.
The eight week campaign will run on Nintendo Europe’s website and show off all the features that the Wii can do when you take it online and how to get it online. Also getting a push is Virtual Console and WiiWare which is strange, as Nintendo never seem to push to the expanded audience. Also getting a word in is the DLC available for Guitar Hero World Tour. This isn’t Nintendo’s first attempt to get more people using their Wii’s online with Nintendo Japan going a different way and giving out 500 points if you help setup another person’s Wii. Perhaps if Nintendo included some more pack-in advertising, people might actually know that the WiiWare and virtual Console services exist.
