The new North American NPD numbers are in and it's nothing but good news for Nintendo. Both the Wii and DS have not only had a great December but also a great 2008 with 10.17 million Wii units sold and 9.95 million DS's sold. For the month of December there were 3.04 million DS's sold, this is a new record for consoles sold in one month beating the record previously set by the PS2 (2.7 million). The Wii was in second place for bringing in 2.15 million, the next console after that was the Xbox 360 on 1.44 million. More inside.
Game-wise Nintendo has done well not only for this month but for the year in general. Pack-in game Wii Play topped both charts with 1.46 million copies sold in December to bring the total sold in 2008 to 5.28 million. Six other games charted in December for Nintendo with Animal Crossing being the least on the top ten with 497, 000. Full Charts are of course below.
