Nintendo starting TV Station Channel for Wii
When Nintendo claimed it was after living room domination, no one expected that included their own television broadcasting channel. At the end of 2009, Japan Wii owners can expect a new Wii channel that is just that. The ""Wiinoma"" channel will broadcast cartoons, brain age quizzes and lifestyle programs that can be accessed by any Japanese Wii owner, and a stable internet connection. More inside.
Most of the content is also free, leaving Nintendo to rely on advertising to fill costs. The announcement of Nintendo’s new channel has sparked fears in already existing television networks. They fear that the Wii’s popularity and the availability of a free television service, will affect prime time ratings. Source: NeoGAF
