The game is controlled with the Wiimote and Nunchuck combo, something that feels a bit strange, while the pointer naturally helps you play the game, if the game is meant to be aimed at the hardcore as well as casuals will the casuals “get” the full remote setup? Movement is on the Nunchuck as is running on and off, but the Wiimote has the pickup and talk commands. We played a section just after being dropped off in the village, the games setup is much the same as the other iterations of Animal Crossing, with Tom Nook offering you a job after giving you a house you can’t afford. The games interface has had a tweaking to take advantage of the Wiimote. Along the bottom of the screen there are tabs that appear when you hover the pointer toward the bottom of the screen with your inventory, map, designs and the like. You can now also cycle through your tools like the shovel and fishing rod without needing to open the menu, a nice addition.
