Tie ratios for Aussie hardware revealed, Nintendo bottoms out
If you didn't know the ""tie ratio"" is the average number of games sold per console. But what is strange about the current market is that the console sales leader - Nintendo's Wii - actually has the weakest tie ratio in Australia. According to GfK figures, the average Australian Wii owner has bought 4.3 games for their console. (Yes, we're being rather literal with the 'average' thing, here.) It is significantly lower than both the PlayStation 3 at 6.2 and the Xbox 360 at 7.9. More inside.
Nintendo probably won't be too worried, but third parties might. On the portable fron the DS has a tie ratio of 4.5, where as the PSP has one higher on 5.3. Could piracy be playing a part here, if so then how does the PSP have a higher ratio? Source: Screenplay
