Nintendo to crack open the piggy bank to increase marketing
It’s no secret Nintendo is rolling in the money and Nintendo UK are going to be putting that money to good use and boosting their marketing more then they ever have before. Website MCV said that Nintendo have already spent more than 1 Million pounds on marketing for Mario Strikers Charged Football while promotions for Mario Party 8 and Big Brain Academy each both exceed the figure for Strikers. More Inside.
Nintendo Wii product manager Rob Lowe told MCV in their interview “As both Mario Party and Big Brain Academy are being aimed towards very broad audiences, we need substantial mass-market campaigns to back them up. These campaigns are of equal size to that of Mario Strikers initially – but will run for longer, with a second burst at Christmas.” Nintendo’s plan is to have a longer sales curve with these titles and to run the campaigns over months rather then weeks. Nintendo says this is going a non-traditional way, but so is the Wii’s target audience. Nintendo Australia hasn’t marketed Strikers much (if any) but it still sold well. Mario Party 8 is now less then a month away so marketing for that should start soon and Big Brain… Well who really knows? Source: MCV
