Splatoon 2 is getting a tonne of new content over the next two weeks

It’s Gamescom week in Germany right now, which means more announcements than you can poke a stick at — starting with Splatoon 2.

Via a video on twitter, Splatoon 2’s director Hisashi Nogami announced that there would be a tonne of new content coming to the game in the next two weeks. We’ve broken it down below by date so you can keep track of it easily.

  • Wednesday 23 August – A brand new Salmon Run stage called Lost Outpost will be available to play in local play, with the stage going into online rotation sometime after that. There’s a lot of neat stuff here, with a closed off area in the centre making sniping enemies a bit more difficult than in other maps.
  • Saturday 26 August – A new map called Manta Maria will be available to play in both Turf Wars and Ranked Battle. It’s set on a boat, which is just about the coolest thing ever.
  • Saturday 2 September – An all new Special Weapon called the Bubble Blower, first shown off in the Splatoon 2 Direct before launch, will make its debut on a weapon called the Forge Splattershot Pro. The Bubble Blower is a neat new Special which allows Squids to launch 3 giant floating bubbles towards an opponent, and shoot at them to make them burst and rain fury (and ink) from above.

The update is set to be available to download this tomorrow. You can watch the full video below:
