Pre-Loading of Games coming to Wii U in 2014, 3DS in 2015

Pre-downloading of games is on it’s way to Nintendo’s console lineup, according to President Saoru Iwata.

Announced quietly in the latest Nintendo Management Policy Briefing, purchasing of a game prior to the release date on the eShop will allow you to download the game and have it ready to play as soon as the release date ticks over. By the looks of things, the update will be hitting the WiiU this year, and the 3DS in 2015.

Its nice to see Nintendo offer an alternative for those that normally grab their games on midnight release. Fingers crossed, everything is ready to go for Smash Bros.!

While I mainly get my games from retail, this is good thing and I’m glad Nintendo are planning to implement this pretty quickly. Another pro in the favour of going digital.
