Where to begin… I mean, this is just so, so, SO monumentally stupid that I could swear that Nintendo DIDN’T want to sell these things. They’re making us bend over backwards to get the damned thing and to add insult to injury, it’s EXCLUSIVE to EB. This thing is *guaranteed* to sell like hotcakes. What the hell are they doing at Nintendo HQ?

What are they doing? Making money.

Making them exclusive to EB ensures that they can’t be price matched with competitors, and therefore can’t be sold for anything less than full retail price.

There’s also clearly a serious supply and demand issue, Nintendo simply weren’t ready for just how big a hit Pokemon Go would be. It’s in their best interest to get a smaller shipment out now, rather than to push release back to later in the year so they can get more stock out at launch.

The prime time to release this accessory has been and gone, interest in the game has already waned considerably. They *need* to get this product to market ASAP, limited stock and retailer exclusivity is just good business sense at this stage.
