Nintendo’s response to a fan will make you feel warm inside

It is not uncommon for fans of books, movies, games, music, sports or anything else, to write to the people that make them happy and one such fan in Japan has done just that, however he wrote to Nintendo for a slightly different reason. Hibiki Sakai is a young child and has been blind for almost all his life, but that has not stopped him, due to his lack of visual abilities, he has developed a strong audial sense, turning that passion into music, specifically on the drums, but also in video games.

He wrote to Nintendo to thank them for creating the Rhythm Heaven games, which are more based on sound than visuals, check out his letter below.

If you are like me and don’t read Japanese, here is the translation.

Dear Nintendo,
Hello. My name is Hibiki Sakai and I am in fifth grade. I am blind, but I’ve always wanted to play video games like everyone else. But there aren’t many games I can play at all. The one game I can really play is Rhythm Tengoku. It’s the only game I can enjoy together with others, and I never lose at it. I’ve gotten perfect scores on all the versions on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Wii, and 3DS too.
So I really, really want you to make more Rhythm Tengoku games. And it’s perfectly fine if you make them a little harder too!
I think that there are a lot of other kids with visual impairments who want to play video games but can’t. So I’d love for you to develop more games for people with handicaps to enjoy playing with others.
I will always support you, Nintendo.
From Hibiki Sakai

That in and of itself, is very cool, someone who has a disability has managed to find joy in the games that Nintendo makes, however what makes this tug at the heart strings of us all is Nintendo’s response.

You would actually be hard pressed to read that here, pun not intended, as the letter Nintendo responded with, was written entirely in Braille, which is the typeset of punching tiny dots onto a surface to simulate raised lettering; This was Nintendo’s response.

Thank you so much for sending us here at Nintendo your heartwarming letter.
We are so happy to hear that you’ve perfected and enjoyed Rhythm Tengoku, Rhythm Tengoku Gold, Minna no Rhythm Tengoku, and Rhythm Tengoku The Best.
We have passed on your letter to Nintendo’s development department. We want to keep making games that everyone can have fun playing, so thank you for your support.

It is nice to see that Nintendo did not just provide the standard, thanks for writing response and it is even more incredible that they went and provided the response back in a form that Hibiki could read on his own. Nice work Nintendo, nice work.
