Nintendo says no Wii budget range anytime soon

As demonstrated by the weekly Australian sales charts, everyone loves a bargain. While many games sell on their own merit, games you wouldn’t expect to can make there way into the top 10, all because a retailer decided to put it on sale that week. Budget titles can also cause a spike in sales when they drop from their launch price points. Sony’s ‘Platinum’ and Microsoft’s ‘Classics’ range go some way to entice a few more sales from consumers. More Inside Nintendo even offered a ‘Player’s Choice’ range for GameCube (and certain GBA titles in the US) to wring out those few extra sales. But dont expect Player’s Choice Wii titles to show up here or anywhere else in the near future. Speaking to MCV, Nintendo UK confirmed that “”We have no plans for a Wii budget label. Nintendo Wii software is performing very well at its current price points.”” While Wii is out of the question, why not do a DS Player’s Choice range? Some early games that didnt sell so well before the DS boom of 06 could be given a new lease on life. Mario 64 DS and Ware Ware Touched are good games but are hard to find and usually at full retail price. Perhaps when DS card and Wii stock levels normalise we might get a surprise.
