Nintendo let loose with digital distribution at the US media summit, check out the lineup

A whole lot of downloadable games were announced for both of Nintendo’s digital distribution platforms today at the American Press Summit. Instead of splitting them up, we’ve included them below in a friendly list for your convenience.

Art Style: Light Trax (WiiWare)

Based on the Gameboy Advance title Dotstream, from the Japanese bit Generations line, Light Trax sees you race as ’dots’ which leave a trail, ensuring you avoid all sort of stationary and moving shapes along the way. Chiptune music is featured in the video, and the art direction is somewhat reminiscent of a neon circuit board. It’s being developed by Q-Games, so it should at least be decent.

Art Style: Rotozoa (WiiWare)

The other Art Style game technically isn’t a sequel or remake, but it draws very heavily on flOw and other ’eat things to make yourself bigger/better’ games. The trailer shows a very nice graphical style for WiiWare and some snazzy music.

Metal Torrent (DSiWare)

Bullet-hell shooters are always fun in small doses, so this game by Arika for the portable downloadable service is very welcome. The gameplay in the video released doesn’t appear to be all that different to the genre norm; however, a special weapon has an almost Pacman effect by turning all enemy bullets into collectible cubes, which naturally give the player extra points. Thankfully online leaderboards are not omitted, along with the very neat ability to make and share your own game videos with others over WFC.

X-Scape (DSiWare)

A new shooter made by Q-Games, but it’s also a spiritual successor to the Gameboy game called X. The game is still a first person 3-D shooter, but it doesn’t look anything like the ones you’re used to. You use the touch screen to move around in two different types of environments: a normal corridor shooter and a more open world one. Nintendo says it will be 600 points and about 10 hours long.
