Nintendo Download Update: Ken’s Rage

Nintendo’s put on a good show for us this week, the Wii U gets a new game, the 3DS gets a full retail game, eShop game, new demo and even a Virtual Console game. No complaining from us this week.

I know, I find it hard to believe as well. Let’s take a look.

Wii U eShop

Well it’s kind of a retail game, it’s not being released physically in Australia but it’s not a ‘eShop’ game either. If you’re a fan of the series then be thankful we’re getting it at all. Not too long ago you would just not have been able to buy this one. For those of our readers who are quota restricted, the download for the game weighs in at a hefty 12GB. Hope you bought  a Pro unit or have a spare hard drive handy!

There’s already downloadable content available for Ken’s Rage 2 as well, however both of the items are free and add new costumes for Ken. One pack gives Ken his classic look from the original manga he featured in, and weighs in at 35MB. The other features eight costumes for the cast, also from the original manga. This one weighs in at 182MB.

3DS eShop

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed finally releases for the 3DS today, and with it we have the digital version available too. We haven’t tried it yet, but if it’s anything like the Wii U version, it’s awesome. On the eShop exclusive side, Real Heroes: Firefighters 3D by Zordix has also hit the store. A first person “shooter”, Firefighters 3D allows players to mow down fires with hoses, break open doors with axes and save lives. The game also (apparently) boasts an impressive voice cast. The hectic side-scroller Fracture Soul finally gets the demo treatment, and will take up 616 blocks on your SD card.

Despite his neglect in current generations, the blue bomber hits the Virtual Console today with Megaman 2. Both the best selling in the franchise and considered to be the best Megaman game ever made, Megaman 2 sees Megaman confronting Dr. Wily and his newly constructed army of robot masters (as per with almost every game in the series at this point). We recommend it, either way, but be warned that it is difficult.

Ooh, Sonic Racing is only $50 on 3DS? I’m very tempted to buy it again, however I shall wait to see some reviews to see how it compares to the Wii U version. Also, my GamePad has arrived back from Nintendo repair today all new and shiny! Now I can finally get back onto the Wii U eShop and download some demos and Trine 2. 🙂

While Sonic Racing Transformed on 3DS is currently available at the same price at other retailers, there’s a chance that the eShop versions for both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game lack the additional “limited edition” content (as there is no mention of it on the eShop), so it may be a better deal to purchase the retail version for those tempted by the downloadable edition.
