It’s financial reporting season and today its Nintendo’s and there’s some good and bad news included.

The biggest news is that for the first time since 2011, Nintendo was able to finish the fiscal year (ending March 30th) with an operating profit. They made ¥30 billion yen over the course of the year but suffered a slight loss in the last quarter losing ¥17.672 billion yen.

It’s good news too for the Wii U with sales up 24% for the fiscal year, they sold through 3.38 million up from the 2.72 million they did last financial year. This was in line with estimates. Nintendo has increased its target for Wii U sales this coming fiscal year just 1% to 3.4 million units sold.

There are now 9.54 million Wii U units out there and 56.68 million games for the console sold.

Despite the release of the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL sales for the portable were down 28% for the year. Last fiscal year 12.24 million units were sold, they managed to just sell 8.73 million this year. To that end Nintendo has revised its forecast for 3DS sales down 13% and hopes to sell at least 7.6 million this coming year.

The Nintendo 3DS now sits at 52.06 million units sold with 225.66 million games sold.

Nintendo’s games have done well too, the newest million seller is The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask which now sits on 2.03 million sold with just a month and a half of sales during the period.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will have topped 10 million after reporting 9.94 million units during the year. The decision to release Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS has paid off too with that game clocking in 6.75 million units sold, the Wii U version in comparison has only sold 3.65 million – considering the difference in user base however this isn’t too bad of a figure.

There’s no amiibo sale figures in the results at all.

Nintendo is hosting a fiscal year Financial Results Briefing tomorrow (May 8th) which will discuss these results. Stay tuned for that!
