Nintendo Australia says games will now have a more global release dates

They said it a few years ago, now is it finally a reality?

Nintendo Australia have allegedly told store managers at the annual GAME managers event that they are now going to have more ’global’ release dates on games released in Australia. This echoes sentiments that former Nintendo Australia Managing Director Rose Lappin gave over 4 years ago that they were ’working on’ getting games closer to release in other regions.

To Nintendo Australia’s credit they have been getting a lot better with release dates. Titles are usually coming to Australia only a couple of weeks after the US and UK release dates, sometimes the week after. The days of 3 months or more delays are mostly over.

The move for more global release dates is possibly response to the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D street date being broken earlier in the year. GAME can’t have been too pleased about it we imagine.

However what hasn’t been revealed as of yet is the release date for Nintendo’s key titles this Christmas. Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land are still yet to be given a date. Hopefully we won’t be waiting long now.
