Nintendo Australia announce Gold and Silver Super Mario Edition amiibo for Australia
Nintendo Australia this morning has announced the availability of the Gold and Silver Super Mario Edition amiibo here in Australia and New Zealand.
Firstly, because this one is available right now – the Silver Edition Mario will only be available for from EB Games here in Australia and is available to preorder on their site right now. It releases on May 30th and should be available in store but if you’re going that route we suggest you go preorder it now.
The Gold Edition Mario is a little different and will be available only through Target, don’t panic it’s not available just yet and there’s no firm date on it just yet. Sources at Target also tell us that it will be limited to one per customer. Both amiibo are the standard $17.95 RRP price you would pay for any other amiibo.
Nintendo Australia warns that these amiibo have a limited number available (aren’t all amiibo though really?) and that they’re just for clarities sake not made out of real gold and silver.
With the announcement of these two figures we’ve finally (sadly) joined in the retailer exclusive amiibo game, albeit these are two very different and special amiibo but we’d hate to see it happen to regular figures. Especially while supplies for all amiibo are so strict.
We don’t even have Target stores here in New Zealand. Are they gonna offer us another option or do we just miss out? Surely not? 🙁
Wow, really? There must be another option. I’d say tweet the Nintendo AUNZ account but they don’t respond to anyone. Does Target online ship to NZ?
I was totally against amiibo, until I jumped on the band wagon, but I definitely refuse to buy these ones xD Good luck to all, hope you get one.
So do these Marios do anything special apart from their looks? Otherwise it looks like another money-grabber for me. I have a normal Mario amiibo from the Mario Party 10 bundle, that will do for me.
According to my local target the Gold Mario amiibo is scheduled for release in late June.
