Nintendo 1st Quarter Report + Sales up 10%

In a report issued today, Nintendo has announced its first quarter operating profit is up 10 percent, mainly due to the great sales of the Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendos net income climbed to 15.6 Billion Yen ($134US million) in the three months which ended June 30, Nintendo also increased its annual profit forecast to 83 billion yen. Sales also increased 85 percent.

Nintendo has now sold over 20 million DSs overall and in this first quarter sold 4.54 million DSs and DS Lites more then 1.38 Million units sold a year earlier. Satora Iwata also went on to say that every Sunday last month over 100,000 were delivered to stores and then be sold out the same day. Nintendo also increased its full-year sales forecast of the DS handheld game players to 17 million units for the year ending March 2007.
