All new way of playing coming to Ultra Street Fighter II

Capcom have released  more details for the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter II The Final Challengers, including new game modes and a gallery feature.

For the first time, players will be able to literally become Ryu with the ‘Way of the Hado’ game mode. Players will play the game from the first person view point and beat down the approaching Shadaloo Soldiers. Hold the Joy-Con controllers in each hand and unleash Hadokens and Shoryukens using motion controls and button combinations. Put in all of your passion and defeat longtime enemy M. Bison!
In addition to “Stage Mode,” in which you defeat enemies to clear stages, there is an “Endless Mode” to continue fighting until your health reaches zero, and a “Training Mode” to practice your techniques. Additionally, you’ll be awarded “Growth Points” based on the gameplay content, which can be used to strengthen Ryu’s Attack, Speed, Guts, Defense, Luck, and Vital stats. Strengthen Ryu to your liking in order to aim for the high score!

If that is not something for yourself to enjoy, then perhaps you want to colour your experience with the new ‘Color Swap’ mode. With the new “Color Edit” feature, you can edit character colour to your liking and store them. You can customise character colour intuitively using the touchscreen. The colour you store can be used in arcade mode, as well as versus and online battles. You can store up to 10 edited colour for each character.

Finally, for those that love the look of the game, you have the chance to lose yourself in over 1,400 carefully selected illustrations from SF20: The Art of Street Fighter. No word on if they will be viewable from day one, or if they need to be unlocked. But with that added to the game, there is a lot for players to enjoy from this game that was first released back in February 1991.

I know I’m repeating myself – but I hope they release it in physical form here! Definitely grabbing it.

I hope they let you play as other characters then Ryu in that mode. I like Ryu but I don’t pick him all the time and it would make more sense to play as Guile or Chun Li fighting off Shadowloo soldiers.

I agree, it would be nice if you could select whom you play as, but when the signature move of Ryu is done by push hands forward it makes sense. I for one, can’t see a lot of people strapping Joy-Con to their feet and trying to emulate Chun-Li’s big move.

I must admit this all looks enticing. Color edit mode…. = yum. metal zangief? aged ryu with grey hair? cammy in an all black dominatrix outfit? yes please.
