New unreleased content for Splatoon found on game disc

Not keen to wait on Nintendo drip feeding you Splatoon content over the coming weeks and want to know everything right now? Well this article is for you.

A clever individual has data-mined the Splatoon disc for all the weapons, maps and modes left unreleased. There are allegedly 10 maps on the disc, only two of which we haven’t got yet – one is Camp Triggerfish which as been seen before and another one that set atop skyscrapers.

The new game mode is interesting and a familiar spin on the classic Capture the Flag. It’s called Rainmaker and is described as such in the game files;

In Rainmaker, both teams compete to snag the Rainmaker. Once you’ve got it, the goal is to carry it into the other team’s base!

So as soon as the battle begins, grab that Rainmaker!

It’s guarded by a shield, though, so you’ll need to bust it out first.

Once you snag it, head for the other team’s base. And be quick about it!

If you run out of time or get splatted, the Rainmaker will be dropped. Its shield will also reactivate.

The Rainmaker is crazy heavy, so you can’t Super Jump while carrying it. Your teammates will have to watch your back!

The Rainmaker can also shoot ink like an Inkzooka, so you can clear a path!

The closer you get to the enemy base while holding the Rainmaker, the lower your goal distance will drop.

If the battle ends without anyone carrying the Rainmaker to the goal, the team with the lowest goal distance will win!

There’s also another mode Tower Control for Ranked Battles. In this mode the teams must complete to control a central tower. One player sits on top of the tower a tug-of-war style battle to get the tower on their side. This mode has been previously revealed in April.

Finally there are 33 new weapons set to be released at some point in the future. There’s even the PAL version of the Zapper in the form of N-ZAP ’89. Hint: It’s Orange.

    Thirty-three weapons left unreleased is a hell of a lot.

    Yikes, and I thought Capcom were shocking their on disc dlc, but will this be free or will we have to pay for it? Makes me wonder what a few more months delay would have done to the release

      This is a different strategy to Capcom. Nintendo’s aim is to keep player’s motivated by staggering the release of the game’s content. So everything on disc is already paid for, and I doubt you will have to pay for anything that’s upcoming.

        Their likely to lock some of it behind a Amiibo pay wall though.

          I think your more likely to see Nintendo develop new content for amiibos than use on disc. There has been no comment or inkling (gettid?) that more amiibos are coming.
