New Star Fox game confirmed for 2015 at The Game Awards

We don’t know much about it at this point, but during a presentation of Zelda for Wii U during today’s Game Awards, Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma let slip that a Star Fox game is in development and will be arriving before Zelda on the Wii U.

As Zelda has previously been confirmed to be releasing in 2015, we can take this to mean that Star Fox will also be coming next year.

The last Star Fox game released was the 3DS remake of Lylat Wars, Star Fox 64 3D, and the last original Star Fox game was the 2006 Nintendo DS title Star Fox: Command.

Fans have been clamouring for more Star Fox for years, and it seems that the time for more Star Fox is nigh.

I know it’s practically heresy to say this, but I was never particularly drawn in by Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars. I tried so many times and it appeals to me on a surface level, but the minute by minute gameplay never really drew me in as much as the hype train told me that it should have.

I’m also a bit skeptical from the motion control rumours from E3 surrounding this.

I’m hopeful that the game will end up blasting through my expectations, and that by going in with lowered expectations I will be pleasantly surprised, but time will tell…

I think I might have missed the boat on Star Fox as well if I’m being honest. It never hugely grabbed me, as much as I wanted to get into it. That said, maybe I need to give it more of a chance.
One thing I am sure of, it would be pretty dang cool to fly around in an environment like the Orbital Gate in Smash Bros.

I freakin’ loved Lylat Wars. It captured simple, intense gameplay with multiple routes and many secrets and surprises. It had so much replay value for me.

I’m wary that Nintendo will ruin this one though with their recent track record of not being able to make a challenging game for competent gamers and the mention of motion controls….*shudder*. Hopefully they can be turned off though.
