New Sonic the Hedgehog game by Sonic Team in the works

This year is the 25th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, but with the lack of fanfare so far you might be forgiven for not knowing. That’s all about to change.
Speaking to Famitsu, head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka was asked about the years events and what’s on the horizon for the ‘hog. Iizuka confirmed that there is currently a Sonic game, developed by Sonic Team currently in development and is a ‘completely new game. Not only there but there’s also a full movie on the way from Sony Pictures (ha) and the continuing animation of Sonic Boom.
While it’s an easy target to make fun of Sonic, especially after Sonic Boom last year – we’d still like to see something nice for him on his 25th.

Just wanted to mention that Sonic Boom came out in November of 2014 not last year.
Anyways keep the great work up; I know Nintendo isn’t making it easy for you.
