News of the ‘western’ release of the New Nintendo 3DS is hinted, but of course Nintendo aren’t going to say that now are they.

The event will take place at 1am Thursday morning Australian Eastern Daylight savings times, full time listing is below.

What times is it on for Canberra, you know, the nation’s capital?! (ha, ha).

Canberra uses the AEDT so it’s the same as Sydney. That and Tony Abbott’s there 😉

I hope they launch the Collectible Badge Centre for the 3DS. Seriously how hard could it be to localise that piece of software. I like the idea of further customising the home menu of my New 3DS. I am also hopeful for some good solid first party releases in the next couple of months – something new and surprising that makes use of the New 3DS capabilities. Other than that I am not really sure what to expect.

Was at the Nintendo Experience today in Melbourne and they had Nintendo Techs their updating all the display/play units for both 3DS and WiiU. I noticed that Nintendo Zone was featured on one of the 3DS XLs but when I tapped on the icon is advised that the connection was not configured. I know that they have had Nintendo Zone in Europe and US and Japan to some degree but never here. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Nintendo Direct???

I’m hoping that they’ll announce a few surprises while they’re at it. And I anticipate that something will be released immediately after the presentation (the expanded Kirby Triple Deluxe games or Dr. Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training, perhaps? [though I’d prefer a retail release of this]).

While I don’t expect them to announce this during the presentation, I’m expecting a New 3DS exclusive Pokémon Z and/or Pokémon Delta Emerald by the end of the year. These versions can include a few new features/Mega Evolutions and address the performance issues that affected previous Generation VI titles due to the 3DS’ limited processing power (e.g. frame rate dips during battles, lack of 3D in most areas in the game). This would make a lot of sense from a business perspective as the bulk of these games are already completed. Plus, these could help persuade those who are still on the fence about upgrading to do so sooner rather than later. Considering that we’ve been spoiled with new Pokémon games three holiday periods in a row now, I’m not expecting Game Freak to release the next Generation of Pokémon games *just* yet. There are still two unannounced event Pokémon that are yet to be revealed (and will inevitably have a movie or two centred around them) so my guess is that there will be at least another year and a bit before we see a fresh main series Pokémon title, and these “New 3DS” exclusives can tide us over until then.

I know EU viewers got their MH4U demo codes in their email right after the direct but I’m wondering any AU users received any emails yet with their MH4U demo codes ?

I hope Nintendo of AU isn’t slacking off.
