The release date for Animal Crossing on the 3DS may still be up in the air for certain locations around the world, but that won’t stop us from finding out other things about it in the meantime. An English translation of the Animal Crossing footage shown at the Japanese Nintendo Direct reveals exciting new details.

According to the translation, as mayor of the village, the player will now be able to carry out various public activities. There will be both new and old types of animals in the player’s town, and they will now have richer personalities. Across the village line will be a mall with a number of shops, and the Nintendo 3DS StreetPass feature will allow Animal Crossing players from all over to swap houses with each other.

Check out the entire translation below:

Animal Crossing will be released in Europe in 2013. Release dates for America and Australia are yet to be announced. The Australian release is likely to be close to the European one.
