Nintendo also brought Kirby: Triple Deluxe to the party during tonight’s Direct video.

Some new gameplay footage was shown off along with the announcement of some new gameplay modes. Kirby brings along his usual copy ability, but now enemies aren’t the only thing he can inhale.

The new Hypernova powerup allows Kirby to suck up certain environmental set pieces to use as weapons and to clear a path for himself. The game also features stages with more than the usual side scrolling action. Stages are now multi-layered, similar to what is seen in parts of Donkey Kong Country Returns, allowing Kirby to jump into the background and foreground to discover new areas.

The first of the new gameplay modes announced was Kirby Fighters, A Super Smash Bros. style beat-em-up featuring the different Kirby power-ups and copied enemy abilities.

You can compete with up to four players to prove which Kirby is strongest. The other new mode is called Dedede’s Drum Dash, a rhythm game starring Kirby’s long time enemy King Dedede. Kirby Triple Deluxe is set to release in 2014

Video games are not my forte. I'm not very good at video games. If you walked up to me in the streets and exclaimed “Hey! You suck at video games!” I would not call you a liar. They are, however, one of my favourite things and classic Nintendo titles are what I like best. Sure I haven't finished New Super Mario Bros. U yet and I've had the game since launch, but that doesn't mean I don't get the same fuzzy feelings as you when I play it.
