iPhone more powerful than Wii says Telltale

Developer on Telltale forums says the Wiis not even at the level of Apples iPhone

The frame rate in Tales of Monkey Island on WiiWare has come under complaint, with many people turning to the official Telltale forums to complain. However, a poster who represents Telltale on the forums replied that the reason the game has a couple of frame rate problems is that “that the Wii is just not a powerful console. An iPhone is much more powerful than a Wii, even.”

The iPhone does have some impressive games on it, however could it really be more powerful than a Wii – the Wii really isn’t that strong, but does have games like Super Mario Galaxy which run at 60 fps. The other reason, as posted by another representative, was that they want the game in our hands as soon as possible. The frame rate was deemed good enough by Telltale and Nintendo and therefore was released.

WiiWare does have a technical limit of 40 megs per game, but that shouldn’t affect the frame rate of the game. Is it the Wii or the development team to blame here for the frame rate? The same poster says the frame rate issues will be sorted out eventually; whether that is an update or the next episode remains to be seen.
