Back in the early 2000's I was a great believer in eBay and online shopping, I told my family and friends that it was great and that it was good way to shop. Now I've done all my Xmas shopping nearly online this year - with my busy schedule I just have no time to get out and as usual I turn to my list of reputable (or what I thought) online retailers.

Now we all import, but recently with the sh!t Aussie dollar I've decided to support my local retailers (I often do anyway) but now buying Aussie has stabbed me in the back. 3 weeks ago I ordered some things from;

- Valve Store (US)
- Amazon (US)
- CDWow (HK)
- EzyDVD (SA)

And guess which one isn't here? Well it's Amazon and EzyDVD - but at least Amazon has shipped, EzyDVD still has not shipped my Bluray and luckily I ticked "Post Seperate" because other wise I would be waiting for my Dark Knight as well. Valve arrived in a week, CDWow 2, and I'll probably have another order from them in a week too (I want these to miss Xmas).

So why has my order from EzyDVD not even shipped? "Distribution Delay" apparently, but of course if that were true it wouldn't be in every other online store now would it? The real reason is because the supplier won't give them the stock, why you ask? Because they're in administraion - so unless they can pay the bills they won't get stock and won't fullfill orders. So that means they have my money tied up, and possibly others over Xmas and people miss out on gifts.

For Shame

I think you were just unlucky with EzyDVD going bankrupt at the wrong time.

Were they in trouble before or was it because of the economic crisis?

Who knows but it's only stock from one distributor that I can see that's being held, I just wish they had told me "we won't be able to stock this" so we'll cancel so you can get it somewhere else.

I've only brought from Play-Asia and I've never had a problem with them barring waiting on things to be in stock. Plus I love the fact that with EMS speed post they can ship something on Firday and I go to my P.O. Box first thing Monday morning and its in stock, pure win.

I think I've been fairly lucky with online purchases.
DVDCrave, Play-Asia, dstore etc have all been fairly good to me.

Although I've had some bad experiences with eBay which means I'm a bit more wary using them.

I was let down earlier this year by DVDOrchard. Ordered a DVD that was in stock on Saturday via express post as I needed to give it to someone on the Thursday. They're in Brisbane, I'm in Melb and normally I'd have it by the Tues. Rocked up the next day (Friday)... I had to on post it to the UK. Bleeeeeech.

I'm going to update my thread about ebay when I have time. The situation got even further complicated, but it worked out okay. Short version: you can't even trust people with over 99.5% positive feedback with thousands of transactions over a number of years.

A bricks & mortar EzyDVD screwed me over on a DVD I ordered around mid November, got a message from them around 2 weeks after I was supposed to get my item telling me it was delayed until after Xmas. Boooooooo to them >_>

I waited about 3 weeks for a package from Madman to be sent out. They wouldn't tell me why it was delayed and when I asked if it would be here in time for xmas cause I ordered xmas presents in the order, I was told me that "Around the holiday season they can get really busy, so they cant guarantee delivery before xmas." I was so tempted to write back, I guessed you'd be busy over xmas, thats why I ordered WEEKS AGO!!!!!! but I bit my tongue as it doesn't help...

BTW - That wasn't 3 weeks for the package to arrive, that was 3 weeks for the package to leave their warehouse...
