With the moderate success of my earlier attempts at hosting, and with the ravenous bug-splatting beast of TAFE coming under control, I'm keen to get some gaming gatherings happening over the summer. But I'm not content with just a single meetup now. Oh no, I'm wanting organise a series of them. A pre-Soundwave gathering is on the cards, and another birthday party style Halo bash would be good. Mainly though I'm looking at the possibilities of a number of small scale LANs. Particularly for Call of Duty 4/5, but also for Soldat, Trackmania, StarCraft, and whatever else people might want to play.

As a matter of fact, a mate of mine is coming around today to LAN it up and it looks like my schedule for Saturday has been cleared, so pretty much any time from now on is a possibility. I've always relied on peoples' feedback and suggestions to improve these things, so any thoughts you want to share would be good. Oh, and Krisophage and Nibbler are on the top of my list for potential LANers at present, owing to their proximity and access to transport. For other folks we'd have to organise a way for you to get your PCs here.

That's Mrs KC to you!!

Soldat is AWESOME, revel in the many lols just spamming the grenades and the "n00b launcher", nothing better than dying from an off-screen blind fired rocket :lol:

StarCraft sucked when we LANned it 4p last week >_>

ENKC, you hold the best geek parties. All the consoles are out and there is sugar and BBQ everywhere.

You hold it, and we shall come. If I could get my shite together, I might even be able to bring my own PC, and slaughter you all on some FPS action.

I'd be up for console gaming as I don't have my own PC.

1. It's not Mrs KC to me, obviously.

2. I imagine firing the rocket is better than dying from it.

3. Of course it did. You're doing it wrong.

~~~
So, I've been thinking of the possibilities for doing things here and there's no good reason why some of you guys couldn't just drop past (we can pick you up from the station obviously) and play some Mashed on Xbox whilst eating junk food for a few hours. That might be a fun way to fill in the odd afternoon when PC LANs are just too much effort. That said, I hope we do go to the effort for the LANs as well. If someone could find a way to help Rossi get his PC over here, that would be brilliant. I suppose the real question is, what do you guys want to do? Apart from massive Halo LANs obviously. That takes a crapload of time and money to organise.
I has a 360 now ;D.
I'd prefer a console LAN personally, they are just easier to do.
Catfish and I both have monitors, speakers and 360s that are literaly a 5 minute easy-setup 360 LAN :P Not that we can come up every time of course, and if I end up crawling under barbed wire for a living soon then you can count me out.
PC lans aren't hard to setup. Its just the idiots who use Vista make it harder for the rest of us.
Heh, funnily enough I've found Vista's networking setup to be stupidly easy. Not had any of the wierd issues I used to have with XP.
But it's the actual process of lugging my PC from Bunbury to Perth which is stopping me from bringing more than my lappy and Xbox.
Since I count three Vooks-related parties happening in the space of a week and we have more work than I thought to get set up here, I'm not setting dates for now. Forgive me if I got enthusiastic too early, but rest assured it WILL happen and it WILL be awesome. Just as it has always been.
