Yesterday when i was in EB i saw they had a pre-played copy of de-blob for $75 (yeah $75!) but Big w have it new for $38.84........ so what do you think its possible to get eb to price match Big w then discount it cause its pre-played?

They would match the price, not give it cheaper becauses its preowned. EB are so stupid with thier prices, it actually discourages sales when they know theres much cheaper prices.

its ok i pissed em off yesterday when i went in with Nights and George of the jungle for them to match JB's Wii music trade in deal, the chick didnt want to do it, i argued with her saying 'its your companies policy to match other retailers, if you dont want to do it then ill speak to your head office' straight away she said 'ok, ill do it' (pricks)

EB are f*cked. If you want to trade games in they dont do it by value anymore, its something like two DS games = $20, even if thier worth $70. GameTraders do it on value.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, EB aren't that bad. At least they're great down here.
If it's cheaper elsewhere, then they'll price match it. Why the hell do people complain that they charge too much when you can just say 'oh btw, Big W has it for $40' and they'll give it to you for $40 with the added 7 day guarantee!?

And unlike the cheaper places like Big W and other department stores, the staff there generally give a sh!t about the games they sell, and are 98% of the time more well informaed than the dullards that seem to work at general department stores.

The fact that people have to go to the extra effort to get a price match when they can walk down the street and get it for the lower price no hassle is discouraging. Why don't they just keep prices lower in the first place? Because they want to exploit the little kids and parents who don't know about any sort of price matching (aka like me when I was younger).

I'm fairly certain I know more than most of the idiots I've encountered that work at GAME (and in one occasion GameTraders).

You can price match if you really want to. You don't have to pay the price and you aren't being ripped off. People will keep going to EBGames and paying the "rip off" prices and that's why the prices stay that way.

That's interesting too, because I went in and traded in TWO Nintendo DS games and got 46 dollars worth of trade in credit. Obviously, it's not as much as I paid but I think your story is some real hyperbole.

Ninja has it right. Big W / K-Mart are all drones. Really boring drones. I've had to call up places like that to price match and I've been given the answer "I dunno" when asking for a price. It's really, really bad.

Can I just ask, how many pre-owned games do you buy from GAME or GameTraders? All of these people who are like I WILL NEVAR SUPPORT EB but go and buy new games from Gametraders aren't really doing Gametraders any favours at all. There is NO profit in new games particularly at the discounted prices that these other stores offer. If you really want to complain and bitch about how you want to support GAME or GameTraders then perhaps start buying pre-owned and making the company a REAL profit and truly "supporting" them.

As for MLTZER's question, I believe you can price match it and then get a discount on top as it is pre-owned. But after reading your responses afterwards I probably wouldn't of done it for you either. You probably got someone who was a new christmas casual or something.

I personally price match at EB because of their 7 day return policy and because the people at my local EB actually know about games as opposed to the closest GAME and GameTraders. Though I don't really have much of an opinion on GAME or GameTraders seen as there is only one of each locally to me.

And the fact that while Big W and the like will advertise much cheaper, the chances of them actually having the game are slim usually
At least EB is organised and will be able to find a game for you, instead of the 'you can buy it if you can find it' of Target et al.

And from the point of view of someone who'se only used GT a few times, it seems to me that they prey on the people that don't realise you can import for cheaply, and try to sell imported games for way more than they're worth.

I'm going there tonight. Which posters are you referring to because as far as I know all the marketing for this month has been put up already. Either way, I'm about 80% certain that you're reading the poster wrong or something like that (just like how people read the part that says FREE and don't read the part that says "When you trade 2 selected games").

I price match 'cos our store rules, it means more cheap copies for more gamers, and mostly because it's an excuse to talk to our mates who work at EB

Pretty much my philosophy. I find it hard not to hit something when I see these stupid signs, along the lines of trading in an old console with 20 games to get a mere $100 off a new console...like...UGH! Their trade-in policy is insane, they almost always sell new games more expensive than elsewhere, and often put the price up $20 so they can whack a "$20 off marked price" sticker on it (I saw Fable II for $100 like that last week). The only thing its good for is looking at games as a way of killing time, and picking up cheap second hand titles (although strictly only with games that are a year or two old, any pre-owned game that was released in the last 6 months re-sells for only a very slight discount).

I'll admit though that, while there are some tools that work at the ones I go to, there are also a few people that obviously know and enjoy their games, and will banter in a friendly way about them, which you would rarely get at Big W or whatever.

Why anyone would go and pay $95 for a second hand copy of a game that JB or BigW have for $79 is beyond me.

Oh and the so called deals they have on at the moment are insulting. Most of the 1/2 price games are listed at $99 when the recommended retail is only $50. How is that any sort of "good deal". It is the same f*cking price!

Yes, I've noticed that as well with a lot of the "half price" or otherwise "discounted" games...its amazing that they get away with it...but they do. EB is normally packed, and it seems to be the place to go for mothers picking up the Christmas shopping for their kids or whatever...picking up their "half price" kung fu panda and the like...god damn it I hate people.

Good news I guess is that there are always other stores / online for us, informed buyers...so I suppose it should never be more than a frustration for us.

Or y'know, sometimes they actually have a better price than the competitors aroudn the place.
Many a time I've found EB to be cheaper than the surrounding BigW/Target/Kmart/Harvey Norman.
