Something newer will be cheaper in the long run, a newer car should be more fuel effiecent and depending on the car it would most likley be more reliable. saying that it really depends what you mean by an 'old' car. My car above is a 97 model ive had it for about 2 years, has just had its 200,000km service and since ive had it has not let me down once, and is showing no signs that its going to 'die' on me. ive only ever had to have new tyres put on and the scheduled services. But like ive said it really depends on the car.

ummm i dont know why you think that? if you buy a new car you loose about $5,000 - $7,000 as soon as you pay for it cause of taxes. And its always better to buy the last of the previous model than the 1st of the new model as the last of the previous model will have alot of extras and any known 'bugs' are generally fixed.
