Hay, didn't someone say they were going to buy TF2 on X360?

Lawl.

Games are hit or miss, and I find I'm getting just as many laggy games as I am playable. And games with 8v8 (which is the highest the 360 can go)? Forget about it. Those almost never work. I myself can only host 4v4 reliably. I usually don't join games with more than 12 people, to lower the chances of a lagfest.

Which is really unfortunate, because playing on the PC I was always playing in games of 12v12. That's a huge difference. That's way more spies looking to stab you in the back, way more engineers dropping sentry turrets, way more pyros burning the poop out of everything. And I think that's why I noticed that I was winning a lot more on the 360.

I came from games of 12v12, where a whole third of the team could stay on defense, leaving plenty of people to go offense, and where anywhere you went on the map, there was battle, to games of 6v6. Half the size. Maps are a lot more... open, on the 360. You can often find your way to the enemy intelligence without encountering any resistance until you get there. And sometimes, not even (at least until people learn to defend).

http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/#1499

Games with a maximum of 8v8.
Games which you'll only ever find non-laggy servers on 4v4 90% of the time.

Being a spy I excel when there's lots of players. In a 4v4 it's way to easy for them to notice you.
And lol at the chronic lag issues.
TF2 just isnt TF2 without 10-12 players per side and twitch based play.

In closing, lol at people getting it on 360.

In Spirit's defense he hasn't got a PC good enough for it, but still. It's just missing such an integral part that i's not worth it IMO.

I guess though that HL and the episodes would be worth it.

Yay, I'll be joining the masses. Once my package arrives.. *waits in anticipation*

I really should start a steam account now, just to be in the cool club.
I'd _like_ to use the name pchan, but it's always taken by some anime fanboy noobface. So it'd probably end up being Javelinface. I'll set it up tonight after work.

Can anyone confirm that this came out today?

Installed a non-steam version yesterday just to see the taunts. The Engineer's jig is possibly the most insulting thing I have ever seen in a videogame. Also, is the Sniper's taunt the first recorded use of the word "wanker" by a videogame character?

Confirmed, won't be out in stores until next week :/

curse you valve

I'd download the behemoth but then I wouldn't have the disks, and I'd have used up a truckload of bandwidth.

Going to seriously get into it online though, should be great as a few of my friends can't run ET:QW but should be able to run a game based on the HL2 engine.

Plus having played both, I vastly prefer TF2 over ET:QW.

It's just a little bit more taxing than CS:S on hardware.

Well, I was a massive Enemy Territory fan, all my friends played it and it was The Game To Play over at uni.

It's just the same if you don't have people to play with that you know. How does Steam work, anyway? Is there like a friends list of sorts?

Steam is pretty much a game distribution system.
But more recently more community features have been implemented.
There's always been friends lists though, so you can check who's playing what on Steam from whatever game you happen to be playing.

My advice? Format your system and go for a fresh install. It's what I did, and now my copy runs fine. (then again I really wanted to play it, and it was time for an overhaul anyway.)

I don't have much and have never installed much on my PC :S Only Call Of Duty 2, TF2, Steam, XFire, MSN, Firefox and all the necessary Drivers to run the two games I play . I use Notepad to do all my documents. That's how much is on my PC.

Also my bad in saying TF2 is in stores this week. The stand alone game currently has no release date still but the ORANGE BOX should be arriving or has already arrived at stores across the country for both the PC and XBOX 360.

So considering taking the day off of work, or at least leaving early. In fact, I think I will.

Since there's no experience system I'll probably just swap characters every time I get killed, but the Scout is probably the class I'll stick with. That or the Spy, depending on how well my net connection holds up.

Any good Australian servers? What's the lag like?

AU servers.
Internode FTW
Also GA have a few up, but I mainly use Node, being a customer and all.
Plus I find they have the best players.

oh derf internoob..isn't internoob like a pay site now or something?

Playing ET on that was amazing. The admins once stacked teams so it was all of them VS the pubs, and then threatened to kick me when the game started to turn around due to a certain someone firing panzers into the spawnpoint..

Erm.. no.

Internode is an ISP, so you pay for that. But all the game servers/forums/file servers are completely free to the public.

Internode BF2142 servers were pretty good, only with the occasional f*ck wit who would fly full choppers into the enemy Titan... Wait, sorry, TF2 thread.

So the Orange Box is out 25th yeah? Might go in and get it today. I need some moar games to cure this extreme boredom I have lately.

Catgonk: I agree with you, ie with regards to having the disks beign better than downloading a behemoth sized ISO.

Much Grr at Australia for not having it out. Why are there delays dammit?

Anyway, as mentioned in the recent buys thread, I bought it online on ebay for $35AUD including postage, as in the actual discs. It was cheaper than STEAM, plus it was a physical disk. I havne't received it, but meh, the seller had a good rating. The only potential thing wrong with it is that it's from India, but apparently everything ie the box, manual, disc and game are all in english.
