Quiet an interesting video, showing how easy after all that time the Cube was to hack and how the Wii could be done the same.
Basically I dont want a Mod Chip / Hack to play Pirated games no no no that is bad. Imports is what Im talking about.
Goes for about 7ish minutes, worth for technically minded people.

Just wait for a Freeloader to be released, it's already in production so it shouldn't be released not too long from now.

I'm looking forward to modchips. I'm sure I'll be importing quite a few US releases.
The video was a good watch, the guy presenting is in fact the guy who first hacked the Gamecube. I seriously laughed when he said that Nintendo changed the DVD drive password for the Wii, they made it lower case instead lol!

My freeloader doesn't work on the Wii. It's a 1.06b.
Hopefully the Freeloader in the works won't be locked out by Nintendo in a firmware update.

why don't they just engineer them so that the disc's spin counter clockwise?

ROFL, that's the funniest thing I've heard all day.why don't they just engineer them so that the disc's spin counter clockwise?

i know it's stupid
but i would like to know a serious answer to this question, if the console is programmed to read a disc that spins the other way, how can a normal burner duplicate that?

Hacking the cube/releasing modchips for the cube is like releasing viruses for Mac's.
Hence the reason why it took so long and there was so little modchips.
The Wii is another story though, a huge success in all markets since launch.......it wont be till we see modchips at all.

I leant a long time ago that it is the quality of games and not quantity. In my younger times had a mod PS and had lots of "backups". Didnt care about game selection because you would just copy them off a mate. Had so many games that were never played or played once. These days I rather buy, keep and play the games of the fullest.

For some reason I thought this thread was going to be more along the lines of "argggh me hearties, see the good ship Nintendo to the stern, shall we take her for her Wiis?"
"Aye captain, I'm here to secure my share"
Yes its the pirates life for me.

I agree with Nemesis. I wouldn't want to buy it to rob developers of money but to play games that don't get an AU release.

What's your obsession with calling everyone a nerd? Seems to be included in the majority of your posts. You call yourselves fans of Nintendo yet you dont mind letting them go bankrupt because you wnat to hack some games?

I had a modchipped PS1/2 but that's because I was living in asia so it was easy to do, I wont be doing this because I prefer to own the real games and with everything being so uh, online? these days something bad could happen with firmware updates

I expected pirate talk too
"Shiver Wii timbersss"
But seriously, I'm strongly against pirating games, especially when the developer deserves/needs your support (pretty much all game developers....bar EA).
Excuses like "I don't have the money" don't cut it, at all. You wouldn't go into a store and steal a TV because you 'need' one, yet don't have the funds for it. Pirating a game is stealing, no matter how you look at it. If you need money, go get a job or learn to budget. If you still feel the need to pirate, I pity you for having no morals or ethics.
Importing is completely different though, and IMO is the true purpose of the modchip.

Seriously though the more and more he says it I just think it's to compensate for his own insecurities. Although I've never seen Chibi in person or read anything about him, I imagine him to be a skinny red head. =P But that's just me. =)
But yeah, I'm all for hacking the Wii if it means I can play my legitimately imported GCN and Wii Games.

The only reason it's such a big deal is because you people go on and on about it
Why cant you people just do it the normal/honest/only way to play games and just buy everything normally. if you miss out on a game boo frickety hoo.

Hmm, I don't think you are following though. I don't think anyone in this thread has said they wish to pirate games, rather they would like to play games they import from other countries that are unreleased in Australia. Trauma Centre is currently only available in the US and would be unplayable on an AUS Wii and having a modchip that would allow people to play their imported games would be great.
Sure this may not have any bearing on your Wii experience but I can assure you many Australian gamers don't want to be deprived of some great games just because Nintendo of Aus won't release them here.
EDIT: After seeing another thead you have contributed in I see you are against importing as well so I guess you won't agree with the above either. That's cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion

Ironic considering you'd be the first in line to complain if the next pokemon or final fantasy game never made it over here, and there was no means of playing it either.

There have been so many great games never released here, so I would love a freeloader disc to run that kind of thing!
