Finsihed Half-Life today. Died a few times on the last boss but he wasn't too bad. The ending was weird to say the least. I still don't understand what suitcase man has to do with anything. Also he draws out his words a lot.

I did both endings too btw.

Spoiler

A cool survival FPS though, just some of the platforming annoyed me a bit.

You play the original or Black Mesa? I never had the patience to get through the original but Black Mesa is just phenomenal.

It's on Source, all the assets have been remade, re-voiced I believe.

As well as tweaked. Really really incredible, even though I can only compare it to the first 1/4 of the original.

Finished Pokemon Black 2 about two weeks ago. I can add that to Blue, Crystal, Gold, Pearl, Platinum and Black.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Played it through on Hard to start with, took about 8 hours or so to finish it. Holy crap what a ride.

Not the most seasoned action game player you'll see, but I think I did alright for a first time through on Hard :D

And I'm by no means done with it, still gonna play some more to unlock the extra bonuses and play on a harder difficulty.

Nice work dude! How does it play? I'm looking to buy once I can get some cash flowing again...

Haven't completed anything recently (DmC a few weeks ago, I ran through that pretty fast). However, I am making significant progress of late towards Dead Space 3 and Darksiders 2.

It's frigging fantastic, I found myself enjoying the combat system more than that of DmC (which I'll admit I have only played the first 3 missions of). It was just super compelling, non-stop intense action. Loved it.

That's because DmC is a reductive God of War clone designed to appeal to the masses, while Rising is very esoteric in nature.

Fantastic game. Almost finished it on REVENGEANCE mode. My hands are dying.

I finished Dishonered recently. Good game, but it felt lacking in some ways. I just can't put my finger on some things. Two things that do come to mind is the lack of soundtrack (which is a trend I've noticed in a portion of games these days which go for the atmospheric sounds over a cool soundtrack) and the ending was a bit lacking (I got the best possible ending). Blinking all over the place was a heck of a lot of fun though.

I finished Atelier Ayesha and got 4 of the different endings (saved just before the end and restarted to unlock them) I have a previous save before I branch off to do the character endings so I'll go back to that eventually to get others. The only one I probably wont be able to get is the old guy... forget his name lol. Ayesha wasn't as good as Rorona, Totori, Meruru, the characters aren't that interesting, nor were some of the gameplay changes (can't see what you are harvesting >.>) it was also a lot easier time management-wise I found, although there was nothing telling you where you should be at. Anyway, rant end.

I also completed Ni No Kuni, loved it, so cute. Currently doing after game stuff but it got sidelined for Deus Ex.

*Edit* Oh I just finished Bioshock Infinite. Major brain wipe on that.

The other day, I finished off XIII.

It's a Ubisoft published FPS from 2003, based on a Belgian comic book series of the same name. I had played bits and pieces of it on friends/family PS2/Xbox, so when I saw it was soon-to-be-removed from GOG.com last year, I bought it.

I had so much fun playing it. I guess it is fairly generic in terms of gameplay: Sneak here, run there, grapple this, collect this key, that key and all that stuff. But there are plenty of objects you can interact with; chairs, brooms, bottles, bricks can all be used to KO enemies, and you can also take any enemy hostage provided you can sneak up behind them. The game's biggest drawcard though, is the comic style. There is some very rudimentary cel shading, but it is a style I really like, and the headshots:

XIII_game.jpg

are so addictive. There are also some really great black-and-white flashback cut-scenes, but these are all interactive; you can walk around the memory and watch the NPCs talk.

Anyway, I had a blast.

nice read man. It's one of the games I now regret not buying for my GameCube collection. Somewhat due to lacklustre reviews and inflated prices at the time.

I remember XIII got quite hyped back in the day, it actually did something really cool with cel shading, at a time when it was being overused to create a generic cartoon effect, they really went all out making it like a moving comic. I could never play it though, by the time I got it on PC, it felt a bit too archaic.

Gone Home
It's really hard to say exactly why I loved this experience so much. There's no action, no cinematics, nothing of the type. You simply walk around, exploring a house and discovering a beautiful and quite effective narrative.
I loved it, but the less I say about why, the better.

Don't be put off by the price. A hell of a lot more enjoyable than a lot of films I've seen.

Just finished Persona 4 Golden. God damn, it was so good.
It's literally the first JRPG I can remember finishing that isn't Pokemon.

Apparently I didn't get the 'True Ending' (there were a lot of things left unanswered) and I saved over my gameplay progress with a 'Clear' file, so if I want to get that true ending I'll have to play through again! That said, New Game+ is severely tempting, since I haven't enjoyed a JRPG like this in ages, and it'll let me experiment with different choices/get some of those trophies I missed.

Finally finished GTA 5 after needing to neglect when it was exam time. Great game and the only GTA I've actually finished.

Nice. I've never finished a GTA game. I've totally neglected GTAIII on PS2 due to other life commitments.

Just finished Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. It was a great game, like the all the other Layton games. I found the ending to be bittersweet, mostly because it heralded the leaving of one of my favourite characters from the series.

Now onto A Link Between Worlds!

Finished Ryse: Son of Rome today.

I didn't hate it as much as many people seem to have, but I can understand and agree with many of the criticisms that were levelled against it.

I kinda liked where the story went towards the end, and the combat was pretty great at times.

Finished Persona 4 Golden properly yesterday. Second play through since I missed the TRUE ENDING the first time and screwed up my save files so I couldn't just go back and change things.

Well worth the second time through though, discovered entirely new characters I was unaware of beforehand, and the amount of extra content I missed for getting a 'bad' ending was huge, like 15-20 hours!

Thoroughly loved the game though, it's the first JRPG I have finished that I can even remember that isn't Pokemon.
