Looks pretty impressive! I hope there is PAL release.

So this is like a hack n slashes in the vein of God of War and the likes? (obviously without as much gore)

Seriously, they localise this, Last Story and Xenoblade and that's a decent 2011 along with Zelda and whatever they announce for 2011 at E3.

I can't wait to try Last Story.
Not so sure about Xenoblade, but it still look impressive none-the-less.
I would be very tempted to get Pandora's Tower too if it gets PAL release.

I still don't understand why we have to sit behind PAL/NTSC crap. Ninty Aus released NTSC games before (e.g. Metroid Prime 2), so I can't understand why some games can't get released like that (like Phantom Brave Wii), just slap on the NTSC warning.

NTSC does not work on unmodified PAL consoles though.

I was out of the loop last gen, what was unique about Prime 2?

Ninty Aus (I'm sure) released the US version of Metroid Prime 2 on GameCube.
There was a big notice on the cover saying it is NTSC and works with NTSC capable TVs.
Before Nintendo blocked it, I was able to play NTSC US GameCube games (e.g Baten Kaitos sequel) on the Wii with Freeloader, so that shows that the Wii is capable of playing NTSC based games.

Yup, hence why Metroid Prime 2 would only play in 60Hz mode.

The packaging and art looks really nice! I hope they keep the style when (IF!!) it comes to PAL region.

That's a shame. I've played through both and I'd rate Xenoblade higher than The Last Story...but I understand that Xenoblade isn't suited to everyone.

Pandora's Tower/Tower of Pandora looks interesting. However, I can be a bit indifferent with these types of games. I loved Devil May Cry but couldn't warm up to God of War. The chain mechanic interests me and it reminds me of Castlevania. From what I've seen the chain has a variety of uses.

That's not to say that I won't try out Xenoblade!! ;)
I really wish there was some way to "demo" some of these games. They certainly look like a long term investment in gameplay ;)

Not sure if the trailer sold me on the game, but I already have the limited edition pre ordered on Zavvi so I'm really interested in seeing how this plays.

I'll be waiting on Pandora's Tower - I'm not quite sold on it. To me it reminds me of a devil may cry or castlevania style game, where its just action with RPG elements thrown in. I may pick it up in the future, perhaps when on sale.

I'm liking the look of this, and the read about the story is pretty good. Sounds like I might like this over The Last Story (who knows, haven't played it yet).

If it is a Castlevania style game, consider me all over it. Ever since the PITA/Hard as nails first game on the NES (first game we ever knew) I've played most... except the Wii ones... they kinda suck and changed the story/gameplay. It's more of an action JRPG in the later iterations.

This on the other hand, creepy, adventurous, fighting... looks awesome.

The discussion between diaglyph and Leon has interested me but not surprised me at all. A lot of people who haven't played either want to play Last Story instead of Xenoblade, while a lot of people who've played both, prefer Xenoblade, in my experience of course.

This one was the least interesting of the three Rainfall games. If money does come up, I think I'd be looking for Last Story over this.

Is anyone going to get this game? I think I'll order it. Early reviews are looking pretty decent and the special edition is only $49.95 on ozgameshop.com.

I need to start checking out this Ozgameshop site, this game has cost me like 70 bucks from Zavvi for the special edition. Gonna have to wait a few weeks for it to arrive as well which is going to be a pain. But looking forward to playing it when I get it after finishing up The Last Story I'm looking forward to a new Action/JRPG game

I'll probably get it sometime in the next week or so, if I can budget it. A holiday gets in the way of that.

If I can't, I'll just purchase it in the UK when I'm over in Aug/Sep.

I've played for about two hours. It's only the first dungeon but I do admit that I was a bit distracted during my session so I may have taken longer than I should have.

THINGS I LIKE:
  • Game world is well developed / designed
  • Premise is an interesting one
  • My initial concern was the game would take place in one location and thus no variety. However, there is a lot of variety in each of the thirteen towers.
  • Soundtrack is incredible and adds to the atmosphere
  • The chain used in combat is interesting - you can bind an enemies body parts to give you an edge in battle
  • Many enemies are designed around this chain mechanic - you might have to pull a core out of them to kill them or simply pull them out of the ground to be able to damage them.
  • You can also grab an enemy and bind him to certain environmental pieces

THINGS I DON'T LIKE:
  • I do not think anyone would trust the old woman at the beginning
  • The "romance" system seems rather shallow
  • The combat system, bar the chain stuff, seems incredibly shallow
  • Somewhat linear

I think it's also important for people to know that the game does employ a time limit mechanic - leaving your home area starts a timer that basically indicates how long you have to go until the female protagonist dies from the curse she has. While it sounds unappealing, it feels just right and to be honest I've not found a moment where I've been rushing against the clock. It's rather lenient. It actually reminds me of Majora's Mask in this aspect.

ALSO THIS IS NOT AN RPG, it's an ACTION GAME with LITTLE RPG ELEMENTS.

And finally, DO NOT use the Classic Controller Pro. This game was obviously made for pointer controls and MANY of you will realise this when you boot it up and play around for the first time. CCP is a nice option but this game is clearly made for the controls.

Let it be known that I've only completed essentially ONE dungeon out of a full thirteen. I'll be playing some more once I drag myself away from this assignment ;_;.

I've also got Rhythm Thief on the go too, which I will also say is amazing ;_;
