I get that it looks sleeker than the Wiimote and has the better tech, which is expected coming out 5 years later, but what's with it looking like it's had a lightbulb screwed onto the end of it?

I didn't even look at the buttons before. I can't get over the stupid knob. They are a bit small though, eh?

I'm glad the Wii has come out on the other side of the shovelware crapathon somewhat now. Wii has a decent looking release calendar this year (which will hopefully carry onto next year). But I dunno, will NATAL and Move get the shovelware treatment as well? A phase that all motion controllers have to go through?

i still don't understand the aesthetics of having some round ping pong ball thing stuck on the end. though it will be interesting to see how well their own remote penetrates the wii market.

That Wii Remote picture is really old! The nunchuk plug is HUGE!

Natal is a ripoff of Eyetoy, but years on, so expect it to be a bit better.
This 'Move' thing is sh!t. I don't think the tech is that great, not as fluid as IR for cursor control methinks? They've had to go about it in a round-a-bout way to avoid similarities. Using the existing PSEye seems a little dodgy too, but I suppose it save time and money. The bricky form factor of the Wiimote is still a winner for me.

They even have wrist straps already!

To me it just looks like a black peice of plastic with tiny little buttons and as playa271 said, a ping pong ball stuck on the end...

Apparently Sony are marketing this thing nearly as a whole new console launch, with HEAPS of promotional stuff to be ALL OVER THE PLACE, so expect to be drowned in the Playstation Move

Oh, and the controller also has as little lag as their dualshock3 controllers!

I kinda wanna know what the point of this is, I think the best thing for Sony to do would be to just focus on traditional controls. Having Motion controls come into the system halfway through its life cycle is a stupid idea. I can kinda the thinking behind it is that they think the sole reason the Wii is doing well is due to its motion controls, but thats part of it. The Wii is doing well not just because of the controls but also the price of the system. Its not just one thing that is making the Wii what it is its alot of small things that have built up over time and made it into the success it is with the mainstream.

I can understand them trying to tap into the wii's mainstream but it'll be very hard considering most people have a wii. Most people who bought a PS3, were the ones who would only play the more adult orientated games, and chances are they probably bought a wii just for the other side of play (if even possible).

what makes any new wii orientated mainstream consumer want to buy a Sony now would be that its literally a wii but in HD. But that again will come down to how well the new motion controls are implemented and most important of all the games.

And at that is were I think Sony will most likely fail as they have a loooong way to catch up.

what I also find interesting is the whole aspect of in the future if these new motion controls will be implemented to those "hardcore" people who only play the CODS and HALOs. They sure aren't going to like it one bit. I have so many friends and people I know who totally bag the wii controls. idiots >:

It's not like Sony haven't done stupid things in the past. Who remembers E3 2005? 599 US Dollars. That is all.

I can understand them wanting to tap into this market though. With a Blu-ray player as well, people will actually consider it if they don't have one yet and they don't have a Wii. But the problem here lies in the fact that almost everyone has a Wii........

Sony is ridiculous with its controllers this generation. First we started off with the Batarang. Scrapped that because it was mental, added motion control and took off rumble for Sixaxis. Bullshitted about 'rumble can't be down with motion control', then had to give in to the fans and brought out the DualShock 3 with rumble included. Now they've gone off the rails completely and developed a Wiimote ripoff.

PS3 HAS NO GAME.

Concerned about the durability of the 'ping pong ball'. Hell I keep my Wii in pristine condition (when its not packed away ) but I have seen my beloved Wiimotes get dropped on more then one occasion. Judging by how pricy everything with a Sony badge is, its gonna be quite expensive to get a replacement.

Guh. I wish motion controls would just die already. I'm hoping this is the first nail in its coffin.

I've been on a bit of a Sony binge over the last few months (PS2, PS3, PSP) so my Sony love is high right now, but this doesn't interest me one bit.

One good thing I'll say about it though is that it's an add-on so games can be tailored specifically for it. It's not the defining feature of the console I guess you could say. With the Wii it seems developers simply add unnecessary motion gestures to actions that are easier to perform with traditional buttons. So even the simplest of things become annoying (eg. throwing a grenade in World at War is a pain in the arse in the Wii version, but a simple button press in the PS3/360 versions)
