I really hope that i can be picked so i dont have to work for a few days .

You guys who don't want to do it/try to get out of it are lame; not only is jury duty a pretty rare event - it's also one of the ultimate community services you can do. Think of it as a learning experience at least; and perhaps watch '12 Angry Men' for some inspiration. I'd definitely do it if I was allowed

Then again, my case sucked because we have a SHITTY OH LAWD HOW I HATE 70S BROWN BROWN BROWN ARCHITECTURE courthouse. Though there was a sweet military doco on the TV in the "everyone goes in and waits room"

Looking at the list of ineligibility you would need to show up regardless of tafe/uni classes or you would incur a hefty fine. So in that regard would suck if you had an exam period.

Wrong!!

If you have a look at the list basically your required to attend.
Legal practitioner yourself, Doctors, Emergency services staff, religious types, pregnant women,people aged over 65 are exempt.
You employer will give you special leave anyways if you notify them.

So if your Bill the baker you have to turn up.

I've done it I think I was just 18 when I got called up, my name got drawn out of the hat and had to sit there for 4 days through out the whole trial, fell asleep on the first day cause I was rather sick. BUt other then that it was cool. Get a free feed every day plus you feel rather important about something, I mean your determining the fate of a fellow human being its a really big responsibility. Would love to do it again one day.

one of my friends got out of it. he was scheduled to go close to exams and the uni made a letter for him and everything exempting him from it.

Yeah, if you're a teacher of Yr 12 it's also very easy to avoid.

I think it'd be fun to do, well something out of the norm anyway. Also, on the note of the age of us all on the fourms, I'd say these days it's a minority that are under 18. It may not have been a few years ago, but today, fairly sure it is.
