Fire Emblem newcomers awaken for Super Smash Bros., Captain Falcon returns

Not one, not two but three new characters were revealed last night for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Two new characters for the game and one returning Captain.

More of the  Fire Emblem Awakening cast has joined the game with the addition of Lucina and both a male and female version of Robin. Chrom who appears in the trailer is part of the final smash for Robin and not a fighter in the game.

Returning to the battle also is Captain Falcon from the F-Zero series. He unfortunately didn’t get the honor of a welcome title card, but we’re sure he punches in on time.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is out on October 3rd in Australia with the Wii U version due later in the year.

Lucina made the most sense to include though I didn’t care for her because she is similar to Marth and uninteresting to add, though I love the extensive female roster that puts Assassin’s Creed Unity to shame.
Anna (with the Levin Sword) would’ve been my pick for female fe:a character (as I married her in the game) but I knew that was unlikely. However, I’ve wanted a Magic/Tome user for a while and although I didn’t think Robin/My Unit would be a playable character, I got exactly what I wanted with a Levin/Tome character which is exactly how I used my main character in the game. It’s a nice break from the boring pure sword users (Marth, Ike, Roy, Chrom, Lucina) and I would’ve loved to see an axe or lance wielder.

At any rate, I’m very happy with this announcement and love the addition to the female line up!
I hope alternate costumes/colours for Robin will include different hair and /or faces, but not having that option wouldn’t upset me too much.

Ill be interested in hearing about the small differences between Marth and Lucina, if any. I would hope it would at least be something like the differences between Marth and Roy from melee.
