Fan remake of Metroid II arrives as Metroid turns 30

Yesterday, August 6th 2016 was the 30th Anniversary of the original release of Metroid in Japan. While Nintendo might have forgotten about it, these fans haven’t.

Project AM2R is a fan remake of Metroid II: The Return Of Samus which was released on the Game Boy. Project AM2R brings the black and white game into the colour world with a style very much like the Game Boy Advance versions of Emtroid. Not only does it look like Metroid: Zero Mission but it also plays like it.

Not only that they’ve added a ton features to the game to bring it up to modern standard. The game features entirely new graphics and brand new soundtrack, hopefully this is enough to dissuade Nintendo from killing it.

You can download it here if you have a PC, a Linux build is also on the way.

Jeeze, gotta admit, this game is amazing. Whoever made this really understands the notion of ‘showing and not telling’ when it comes to using power ups.
