Wii also kicking ass and taking names

Nintendo has revealed that the DS family of systems has sold more than 47 million units since the original DS launched in November 2004. With the PlayStation 2 sitting at around 46 million, this now makes the DS the best-selling video game system of all time in the States. It is now on track to become the best-selling system worldwide; standing at about 136 million, it inches closer to the PS2 tally of around 148 million, and should hopefully re-write the record books in the second half of 2011.

The Wii has also continued to make its mark in the US, selling over 7 million consoles each year for the past three years, something never before achieved by a home video console. That brings the Wii’s total sales in the US alone to over 34 million.

"When we look back at 2010, we see consumers time and again turning to the value and enjoyment of our products," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "When we look ahead to 2011, we see new portable technology and more great Wii games that need to be seen to be believed."

With the DS having set the sales bar tremendously high, do you think the Nintendo 3DS could possibly sell even more in its lifetime?
