I was playing Pokemon Emerald when my most epic battle of all time was taking place.

This battle had been going on for hours.
    My team was badly hurt.
    Only Blaziken remained.
Who was I fighting you may ask?
    Rayquazza.
The time came when I knew I was finished.
Next hit and I would be off to the Pokemon Center.
My bag was depleted of all items but one.
    A normal Pokeball.
I threw it knowing it was hopeless.
    1…..2…..3…….Click!

For the rest of the day my parents must have thought I had ADHD due to my excitement.

I have cherished my copy of Pokemon Emerald for years and have not dared to delete my save. I mean, who would want to delete 300 hours of Pokemon?

On a cold Friday afternoon, I had come home from school. I had been thinking of playing gameboy all day. I was hungry, didn’t have any lunch. In fact, I didn’t eat because I spent the money. For the past month I was saving up for something. Something special which I bought at target. I was surprised they didn’t ask for ID; I was pretty sure the cashier noticed how nervous I was. Anyways, my mom asked my how my day was when I got home, but I ignored her. I have more important things to do. I run to the bathroom and unpack my bag. In my school bag is a red and white bag from target. I open the bag, first removing the receipt and flushing it down the toilet to get rid of the evidence. My heart was racing now. I unpack the crystal monster from the bag.

I wonder what people will be asking me when they see that I’m pale from a lack of sunlight and malnourished?. Should I say I was sick? I remove the label from the box and tear it into a thousand small pieces. I flush that down the toilet, too. It is time now. I run up to my room when my mom ask me what I am holding. I panic, sweat drips down my forehead and my teeth chatter. “Mom, it’s just for a school project”. “What project?” “I don’t know mom I just started it!”. A tear runs down my cheek. I run upstairs and open pokemon crystal, loading the heavy cartridge into my gameboy color. What have I gotten myself into? I fill the game boy with some new AA batteries I just bought at supermarket 2 weeks beforehand, so nobody would suspect anything. There is no turning back now. The crystal monster is inside me now, it will control me. What should I do if I die? I cant let my family know about this.

I turn on the gameboy and dive under the bed; a white cloud of mysterious stars sparkle onto the screen so graciously followed by the words GAME FREAK. I feel the game taking control of me; I am now the monster.
12 Hours later I walk downstairs. Its time to battle. Now I worry, I don’t want to seem too good; people will think I play crystal. I do play crystal. No I don’t. Just pokemon. All I can see are other trainers now, I am almost downstairs when I hear “Do you want a cookie I just baked”. I know I do not have time for this crap now. “No mom I do not want a cookie” I walk in the basement and drop to my knees before the gameboy link cables, tears running down my cheeks. I turn to the right and look at myself in the mirror. Oh god, what have I done?

    Pokemon White 2 Comp:

When I was eight Pokemon Blue came out. I saved my poket money as a kid, saved every once of lunch money, birthday money, you name it I saved it. When I got home one day my mum gave me the final dollar for that magical number needed to buy a gamboy and Pokemon Blue. I literally ran a kilometer to the nearest shops to buy it. I have been a Pokemon fan ever since, 15 years later!!

the best pokemon battle i had was with Kyruem (pokemon white)
i had a level 50 magmar and my only good attack was fire spin and i was left with 1 hp so i threw my last pokeball and …..1…..2……3…..click! i was so happy i started screaming and running around. i have never deleted a pokemon game and i wouldn’t. 1, i have all legendaries on my game (without using cheats) 2. i have already beaten my older brother. 3. i treasure all pokemon games.
    there was another amazing battle.
in pokemon fire red i was going to catch dexoys and i had my party but i had a horrible magikarp. anyways, Deoxys defeated nearly all my pokemon except for magikarp. so i used my magikarp and got it down to the red part on the hp line.then….i threw my pokeball…….1…..2….3……i thought this would say “argh! almost had it!’ but no….click! i caught it.

    White 2 competition:
I had just gotten home and fell face first onto my bed. I was supposed to be doing my homework right now but I wanted to use my play coins. I sifted through my homework, I was sure my 3ds was in the same pocket in my schoolbag.
After quietly freaking out, I made up the excuse of: ‘I left my math textbook at school’, and sprinted back to school. After arriving I regained my breath and walked to my homeroom. A boy with wild, black hair leaned against my locker. “So, you play Pokemon?” He questioned; holding my precious 3ds with just two fingers.
“Uhhh… Uhmm…” I stuttered. I couldn’t just say ‘yes’, my social status would be ruined. It just wasn’t ‘cool’ to play Pokemon when you were a seventh grader.
“It’s a yes or no question. If it helps I’ll answer it. Yes, I play Pokemon. Now you.” He said bluntly.
    “Y-yes… I suppose.” I said.
“Good,” He said as he threw my 3ds to me. I caught it gently, opening it. Huh? I had gotten a streetpass. “Well then, wanna play?” he asked.
“Yes!” I answered excitedly. I had just finished EV training an experimental team; a zero-offence, Speed Boost passing Ninjask, a Standard Choice Band Scizor and A Life Orb BoltBeaming Starmie. I was ready to rumble.
He pulled his sleek Legend of Zelda 3ds out of his pocket. “Let’s go” he breathed. We swiftly connected and chose our teams. An Espeon appeared on ‘#1’s’ side of the field as Ninjask’s cry emanated through the room.
I deftly chose Swords Dance as he used Reflect. I then used Substitute in reply to his Light Screen. I used Swords Dance once more as his Espeon’s Psychic decimated my Ninjask’s Substitute. Ninjask swiftly passed the baton to Scizor. Yes, I’ve got this won, I thought as Scizor relentlessly U-turned back to me; annihilating Espeon in its wake.
Once more I sent out Ninjask, met by a Blaziken. I Substituted, waiting for his Speed Boost to activate… It didn’t. “A-ha! That’s a Zoroark!” I said triumphantly. The wild haired boy just grunted in reply. “That’s a yes, then?” I said.
I collected a few Speed Boosts and then passed them to Starmie. Starmie destroyed Zoroark easily, finally the real Blaziken appeared. The battle had only just begun.
I pressed my finger against the touch screen. I waited… And waited… Finally those fantastic words appeared on the screen. ‘Starmie used Surf! It’s super effective! Blaziken fainted!’ “YES!” I shouted, punching the air in victory.
“Good game, we should really play again, sometime.” The boy said. He turned to walk away.
“Wait! Do you have a name? I mean your player name was ‘#1’ but, who are you?” I asked.
“I’m Dan.” He said simply. With that, he disappeared from my sight leaving me and my swollen ego alone.
These days, Dan and I are still friends and openly share Pokemon team building ideas. Not at school, though. That would make us nerds and we think that we’re too cool for that.

I’m 16 now. I remember that back when I was 6 I first picked up Pokemon Blue. The game was incredible, even though I was still young and barely able to read the text. I can still remember the terror that overcame me when I played through Lavender Town. I can still remember the excitement that washed over me when I deciphered what may aswell of been ‘asshfebcdy’ as ‘IVYSAUR evolved into VENUSAUR!’

It was amazing, but now, 10 years later, I know that I can never experience Pokemon like that again. I am no longer the open minded child that I was. I’m saddened by that.

This was when pokemon sapphire first came out and I had no clue about anything since this was my first game and I was very young. By the time I defeated the Elite Four I heard about rayquaza and was like ” that sounds so awesome 😀 “. So I was playing in the car on the way back from a family trip and found rayquaza and because of the harsh sunlight I couldn’t see that it was shiny or see the star things. So I used a zangoose with false swipe to get it down low and I caught it with a pokeball, so I saved and arrived home. I hadn’t played in awhile after because of homework but when I went to get Rayquaza from the PC it was shiny and I was like WHHAAATTTTTTTTTT
But since Pokemon conquest came out and distributed shiny rayquaza’s it dosen’t feel special anymore 🙁

My cousin who is 21 has been teaching me how to play and where to go to get really cool Pokemon.
I walked in the forest tall grass for nearly an hour trying to catch a Pikachu!
I ran out of poke balls trying to catch it so I had to leave and buy more it took another half an hour before I caught it.
    it became my strongest pokemon.
I love this game so much that I’ve asked for a 3DS of my own for Christams
