Bargain Roundup: EOFY Nintendo Wii U and 3DS Bargains

Welcome to a very special bargain round up, it’s not for any particular game, a new console or any particular console.

It’s for anything and everything Nintendo during this end of financial year period. With Nintendo coming off a hot E3, Mario Kart 8 just launching (and coming with a free game) now is the best time to jump onto the Wii U train. We haven’t forgot about the Nintendo 3DS either, there’s some good deals going for that as well.

As usual if you spot a deal we haven’t seen let us know in the comments and share it with the community.

Notes: A usual Premium Wii U SKU comes with a Black 32GB console and the following items. It also comes with a copy of Nintendo Land. Since the bundles below come with another game they usally don’t include Nintendo Land as well. So unless specifically mentioned these bundles don’t come with Nintendo Land.

Many of the Big W prices are online-only, which means they’re part of the Toy Sale, which in turn means that the games won’t be delivered until November. (Specifically, I had to call and have this explained to me about Super Mario 3D World). Just a heads up.

So the Mario Kart 8 Wii U console bundle doesn’t come with Nintendo Land, even though it’s the Premium bundle? I would like to get both Nintendo Land and Mario Kart 8, but it looks like Nintendo Land isn’t included if I buy the bundle?

That Kmart Skylanders bundle for $179 looks like a killer deal.

You could get two if you live in a big house.

I have seen JB HiFi in-store advertising – to buy a hard drive accessory for the Wii U at $120.

Maybe they should throw in the Wii U for nothing. Ha.

Instead of buying the Mario Kart 8 bundle, you should get the following…

    * Wii Basic Console with Skylanders Swap Force and Nintendo Land – $179 (from Kmart)
    * Mario Kart 8 standalone edition – $58 from Big W (includes free game download)
    * 1TB-2TB Self-powered USB hard drive – approximately $79-$129 (must have its own power supply as the Wii U does not generate enough power to support USB-powered portable drives)
    * Wii U Remote Plus Additional Set – $47 from EB Games (includes White Wii Remote Plus + Nunchuk + Sensor Bar)
    * Wii U Gamepad Stand and Charging Cradle – $9 from EB Games (optional, but included in the premium bundle)

Assuming that you pay only $99 for the portable hard drive (as I’ve bought a 2TB Seagate Expansion drive for $99 a few weeks ago at JB), you’re looking at $393 for the lot, which is far better value than buying the Mario Kart 8 bundle by itself.

I am not sure these same bargains will be available for Christmas.

If I was buying, I would get the Kmart Skylanders Basic bundle and separately buy Mario Kart 8 with the free game download.

I would use a USB flash drive or portable self powered USB hard drive to get the download working. A small 250 GB hard drive is all thats necessary.

Has anyone tried the Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle. The website says it’s unavailable online and in store. This has been displaying this since a few days into the online pre-sale. I thought that maybe this would update once the in store sale started today. However it’s still saying it. Does that mean they have no stock anywhere?

This sale along with Nintendo’s E3 and the free game via redemption had convinced my friend to get a Wii U now it looks like he may not be able to get it. Hopefully he’ll pick on up on sale, if not I’ll have to convince him to get one full price.

Till then I guess it’s more Mario Kart 8 at my house 🙂

If anyone is interested this is still available, however I have a feeling it’s very limited stock.

My friend called a store yesterday afternoon and they had one left in stock. Fortunately he was able to put it on hold and went to buy it shortly after
