Aussie Bargain Roundup: LEGO City Undercover for Switch

It might be a little early for this one, but since we’re getting the game a week later than everyone else we thought it would be better to get this bargain roundup out now. Hold onto your hats because it’s a doozy.

Not only do we have listed all of the local Australian stores selling the game but we’ve included import options and for the first time – regional eShop pricing. LEGO City Undercover is due out in Australia now on April 12th, in stores and on the eShop. That’s more than one week later than America and Europe so if you don’t want to wait, you don’t have to.

Because the European release is earlier maybe it’s worth getting the game from there. You might even end up getting the game the same time as Australia if the shipping is fast enough. If you want to go digital you can switch to the Canadian eShop and grab the game there – it’s basically the same as our best local pricing so far – Target.

As the good Captain Planet would say, the power is yours.

That’s pretty awesome you can switch (no pun intended) it up and buy the game from any country you like. Here’s hoping that it leads to more simultaneous world wide launches, though I guess it doesn’t really matter too much anymore anyway!

Has anyone purchased from base.com before? Ozgameshop used to be the shizz but maybe all your Base are belong to us – and worth a punt?

thanks Vooks! As much as I want the game, it’s a bit too much for what essentially is a remastered older game. I’m gonna wait.

It’s worth noting that Nintendo Everything reported that the game is being shipped on an 8GB cartridge (I noticed a similar file size in the eShop), and the remainder of the game requires a mandatory download/install of over 13GB, making this go from a “day one” to a “no way in hell” (not even at a bargain bin price). I’m not going to support this despicable practice, especially if it means that other publishers will think that they can get away with it. What’s the point of even issuing a retail release if they’re going to force us to download more than what is on the cartridge?! Wasn’t the whole point of cartridge media to eliminate mandatory installations and to allow portability? To add further insult to injury, they have the gall to charge almost double the current retail price of the Wii U version, and that 13GB of space doesn’t come cheap either, serving to further add to the overall expense of the game.

Unless they issue the full game on a single cartridge at some point, I absolutely refuse to support this.

I agree with you. I was going to double dip on this game to play through the game co-op (I already own the Wii U version) but this mandatory download has soured it for me, won’t be supporting this.

One of the main reasons I prefer gaming on switch compared to the other consoles is that I don’t have to install / download large patches just to play the game I bought.

      That is actually incorrect.
Here is an official statement from WB:

“The information is listed incorrectly on the packaging of LEGO City Undercover for Nintendo Switch. Players who purchase a physical copy of LEGO City Undercover on Nintendo Switch at retail are getting the complete game, and do not need to download additional content to enjoy the full experience. An internet connection is not required to play the game. The only internet connection suggested is to download the typical content update patch”

I started look at this and thought.. why am I doing that.. I dont need to know, I am already playing it on the switch 😀

Do we have anything official stating that this Target price is accurate?

The catalogue only lists the XB1 and PS4 releases and nothing on the site either. Big W also aren’t listing the Switch version but have XB1 and PS4 for $69.
