Aussie Bargain Roundup: Fire Emblem: Echoes – Shadows of Valentia

by Daniel VuckovicMay 20, 2017

In a year where the Switch has dominated the mindshare and releases, it’s finally good to see something big for the old humble Nintendo 3DS.

Fire Emblem: Echoes – Shadows of Valentia arrives with a smattering of bargains, although the two amiibo that come with it don’t share the same fate. So far Target has told us that they’ll have it for $49, we’re still waiting on Big W – but we’re not expecting much.

No one seems to have the amiibo for cheaper, Target isn’t even stocking, unfortunately. Expect to see this happen more and more, especially for a 3DS title.

Importing too doesn’t offer much relief, it’s still cheaper at Target and that Limited Edition pricing (even with amiibo) is ridiculous from OzGameShop.

As always let us know if you see it cheaper so we can let everyone else know.

I think everyone should be happy with the $49 price tag given that this is a more niche title that will likely be available at relatively limited quantities. I’ve pre-ordered the limited edition for that sweet CD though (I love FE’s music).

Amiibo availability is unsurprising considering the limited demand for the figures. I’m hoping that my local Big W will have them for about $15 (as they usually do), but I expect that I’ll wind up paying full retail for them.

I’m also getting the limited edition, I’ve said this twice before but I am pretty sure this is my final 3ds game I’m buying.

Not sure where you got this info about Target. They are neither carrying it nor have it printed in their catalogue as of today, 20 May (the release date). Just been to Target location at Burwood NSW.

They’re not carrying the amiibo, all stores will have the game except the Country ones. As we said in the guide, it’s not in the catalogue.

We don’t make this stuff up, the price came from Target themselves.

Sorry didn’t mean to sound accusatory. Also called Broadway Target and they have no stock of the game. Not listed online either as all searches return fire emblem fates. Perhaps they are not stocking it on release? Burwood and Broadway are not country stores either.

Looks like Target has finally updated the website with this price with limited stock showing at the stores I checked on release day.

Anyone found a Big W that have the amiibo and a price? Or should i pick them up at full retail?
