Nintendo Australia has announced that the first wave of Amiibo figures will launch in Australia on November 29th, a full week before Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

The first twelve figures available will be Mario, Marth, Pikachu, Peach, Villager, Link, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Fox, Samus and Wii Fit Trainer. They will be available on November 29th.

The second round of figures will go on sale on December 20th and will include Zelda, Pit, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong and Little Mac.

Amiibo figures will be $17.95 but we’re confident that stores will have them for cheaper and closer in price to Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures.

I’m buying 8 of the original set and 4 of the second set so… pretty broke!

Wow Sam… no wonder you’re broke. I’ve only pre-ordered 2 of the original set so far (Link and Samus). I’d love to have more but need more detail about how useful they’ll be across games first.

Wow. A week after the New 3DS range goes on sale. Ouch. Might need to call Budget Direct!

I have all of the first Amiibo’s announced so the second wave might hurt a little especially if I get a new 3ds.

I’m psyched for amiibo. I really am. I think they’re going to be great.

But I think it is pretty poor of Nintendo to STILL be using idealised computer renders instead of a more accurate representation of how they are going to look.

The display EB Expo showed that at least a few of them have fairly intrusive plastic struts golding them up… and I would not be surprised if the packaging is not nearly as unobtrusive as they are claiming!
