Nintendo grabs 96% stake in ND Cube after Japanese success

Wii Party launched in Japan this July and has already racked up close to 125,000 units in sale. This is a huge success and Nintendo are rewarding those behind it, by acquiring a 96% stake in developer ND Cube (regarded for the Game Boy Advance title, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity). Hopefully this means we’ll see a lot more titles from them in the future.

Nintendo have not released a Party genre game since 2007’s Mario Party 8, which has sold over 7.6 million units worldwide. If its current sale trends continue however, Wii Party may possibly live up to its spiritual predecessor’s legacy.

Wii Party boasts 13 different game modes and over 70 individual mini-games. We currently have no Australian release date.

Gaming has, is, and always will be a core element of my life. I’m considering studying Video Game Design, as well as continuing my journalism here at Vooks. I always look for games that challenge me and are innovative in design and presentation. I also work at a grocery store. It's shocking, but I really am that awesome.
