Ubisoft has announced that it will develop and publish the game based on James Camerons upcoming movie Avatar. The movie is about an ex-Marine with a human mind in an alien body who finds himself with split loyalties on a planet far away. “”Ubisoft is excited to partner with 20th Century Fox and James Cameron on this important project.Avatar’s’ rich scenario, onscreen action and special effects will provide a wealth of inspiration to create a unique interactive experience”" More Inside >> Ubisoft say they are looking forward to working on recrating Cameron’s high definition 3D environment in game and are creating a game world rich in character, details, conflict and cultural depth. James Cameron has even commented on the game saying that I told the Ubisoft team I wanted them to be free to do their very best work, and not think of this as a movie-based game We hope so too and Ubisoft should have a while to work on it with the game not due until May 2009.
