But forget about hearing anything about the Wiis successor anytime soon
Nintendo’s next console is already in development, however, don’t expect to see anything about it soon. Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, has revealed to investors that while they are "studying and developing the next console to Wii", there is a "big difference between studying a product and announcing what it is and when we will release it."
There’s two reasons for this, says Iwata. The first is plain and simple – he doesn’t want the competition to copy their ideas. A great ’Move’ we think. Secondly, he wants to surprise people with the next console saying that "Will you be surprised by our completed product if we told you how it is surprising three years in advance?". Hopefully that means the next Wii is not that far away.
Iwata also said that they’ll be disclosing the information as late as possible. Of course we wouldn’t expect anything else from Nintendo.
That won’t stop us specualting about what to expect though. So readers, when do you reckon we’ll get the next Wii?
