Atari has sent us word that Konamis Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will feature on its boxart leading Qantas Socceroo Lucas Neill and Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo for the Australian and New Zealand versions of the game. The game is set for release on the Nintendo DS as well as the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and PSP but sadly no Wii version this year, sad panda indeed. Thursday August 2nd 2007 Atari, one of Australias leading sources of interactive entertainment and Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that leading Qantas Socceroo Lucas Neill and Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo will be the faces in Australia and New Zealand of its forthcoming PES 2008 the latest incarnation of the multi-million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer series.
Lucas Neill has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world. Marking some of the most powerful strikers in world football, Lucas has impressed his peers with his clinical tackling, incisive attacking instinct, accurate kicking talent and quick and accurate analysis of his opponents weaknesses to plan his offensive attack.
Midfielder Ronaldo is regarded as one of the most exciting talents of the modern game, and the 22-year-old is a permanent fixture in the Portuguese national squad. His incredible ball control and trademark skills have seen him receive countless awards, including both the PFAs 2007 Player and Young Player of the Year awards.
As part of the deal, Lucas Neill and Cristiano Ronaldo will appear on the packaging and point-of-sale materials for Konamis Australian and New Zealand versions of PES 2008.
The Lucas Neill and Ronaldo deal comes as Konami gears up for the launch of PES 2008 this Autumn. Due for release for PLAYSTATION3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation2, PSP (PlayStationPortable) and Nintendo DS, the new game boasts the revolutionary Teamvision AI system, a proprietary element that actively monitors the players onscreen movements and adapts accordingly, forcing the player to consider their own strategic play more carefully. Other new additions include amazing attention to aesthetic detail as faces contort and shirts crease during a match, extensive Edit modes in all Next Generation versions, and closer control than ever before.
